The Kenmore Square Neighborhood

Kenmore Square is a vibrant square that brings together Commonwealth Avenue, Brookline Avenue and Beacon Street.  Kenmore Squares claim to fame however is the famous Citgo Sign which is the landmark of the square.  Kenmore Square abuts Boston University and Fenway Park(home of the Boston Red Sox) and it features Lansdowne Street which is the center of Boston nightlife.  Kenmore Square also boasts a high concentration of restaurants bar and music venues. The area is encompasses a large section of Boston, and has a diverse selection of apartments and condominiums available for rent or sale. It is an exciting neighborhood to live, work and play and there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Living Kenmore Square has been an attraction for students and graduate students due to its close proximity to some of the most outstanding colleges in the state.  Boston University located to the west of Kenmore Square allows students to live within walking distance to campus.  Other colleges close to Kenmore Square are Berkley College of MusicEmmanuel CollegeWheelock College and Simmons College. Kenmore Square is also within close proximity to  the Longwood Medical and Academic Area, which includes Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Boston Children’s Hospital. The “Longwood Medical” area, is an important part of Boston’s overall medical and health apparatus. Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Public Health, and Harvard School of Dental Medicine are all part of the Longwood Medical area, and many medical students from those schools rent apartments within easy walking distance.
Kenmore is at the epicenter of the Boston social structure, and the students and young professionals living in the neighborhood are a big part of the neighborhood’s fun-loving reputation. The immediate area around Kenmore is always a beehive of nightly activity.  Due to the area’s popularity, there is a constantly improving dining and social scene in the neighborhood. Lansdowne Street, behind Fenway Park’s left field wall, has seen dramatic improvements in recent years, and is now famous for its clubs, restaurants and music venues, including the House of Blues. Accessing Kenmore – Kenmore is situated in the heart of Boston. It is bordered to the north by the Charles River, to the east by the Back Bay and South End neighborhoods, to the south by Fenway and to the west by the town of Brookline. The MBTA Green Line has an underground stop in Kenmore Square. West of Kenmore Square, the Green Line B branch provides multiple outdoor stops along Commonwealth Ave, servicing the Boston University campus and points beyond. The MBTA Green Line C branch provides multiple area stops along Beacon Street, the Green Line D branch has stops next to the Landmark Center and at Longwood Medical Center, and the Green Line E branch provides stops along Huntington Avenue, servicing the Northeastern University campus and points beyond. Numerous MBTA bus routes also service the various neighborhoods of Kenmore. Access to the Massachusetts Turnpike is via Cambridge Street in Lower Allston, a short distance away. Kenmore’s proximity to all college campuses and to Boston’s Back Bay and downtown financial district allows many students and young professionals to ride bicycles, or walk, to classes and to work.
Need Parking in Kenmore? – There are a range of parking options available in Kenmore Square depending on the specific neighborhood and living situation.  There is resident parking and metered parking on most Kenmore neighborhood streets. There are also large lots that provide overnight parking on either a nightly or monthly basis. Additionally, residents can make exclusive arrangements with parking space owners to pay a monthly fee for a parking space.
