The Newton Neighborhood

Newton is not your typical suburban stereotype.  It is approximately 8 miles west of downtown Boston and its boarders Brighton and West Roxbury, Brookline, Watertown, Waltham, Wellesley and Needham. Newton has an array of centers with 13 top notch villages.  These small villages have boasting downtown areas of their own.  The thirteen villages are:  Auburndale, Chestnut Hill, Newton Centre, Newton Corner, Newton Lower Falls, Newton Upper Falls, Newtonville, Nonantum, Oak Hill, Thompsonville, Waban, West Newton, Oak Hill Park and Four Corners.  Money magazine ranked Newton # 3 in the Top 100 Best Small Towns to live in America.  Its school system is rated high and the town has much to offer with its unique bakeries, restaurants and unique boutiques as well as some of the larger well know retail stores.  The Boston Marathon route runs through a good section of Newton and the famous Heartbreak Hill. Newton has something to offer to everyone.  It is a small town with a big city feel.  

Newton is also home to Boston College, Mount Ida College, Lasell College.  Newton is only a hop skip away from Boston University, Bentley University, Wellesley College and Babson University depending on the village section of Newton.

Accessing Newton – You don’t need a car to access all that Newton offers.  The town is conveniently located to all major routes, with a quick ride into the city.  Residents can ride the commuter rail or the MBTA Green Line into Boston depending on the village.  There is also an array of bus routes that connect Newton not only to Boston but to surrounding cities.  

 

Need Parking in Newton? – There are a range of parking options available in Newton depending on the specific village and living situation.  There is resident permit parking, metered parking in many of the village centers, as well as off street parking in some neighborhood streets. Some of the housing styles also provide driveways or garage parking.  Additionally, residents can make exclusive arrangements with parking space owners to pay a monthly fee for a parking space.
